Stretching and Aging

As we get older we lose flexibility as a result of the aging process however, it is possible to gain mobility and flexibility as we age (yes it is!)

Aging involves a decrease in muscle tone, bone density and loss of elasticity overall and the most common joints affected by this process are the hips, knees and shoulders; all this due to the constant effort by these joints perform throughout our whole life.

Stretching and working on your flexibility is just as important as having a physical activity routine.

Benefits of stretching:

  • Maintain and improve ability to perform daily life tasks and physical activity.

  • Improves quality of life due to a better overall muscle performance

  • Decrease risk of falls and injuries

  • Improves balance

  • Posture improvement

These and many others are the wonderful benefits of including stretching as part of your routine.

Gaining flexibility takes time and practice and we must understand one kind of stretch does not fit all that is why at JO STRETCH we provide one on one assisted stretching making sure we work together towards your goals and needs.
